WaterSmart / Field days

Field days

WaterSmart Pastoral Production™ Demonstration sites will feature as part of information/field days held in 2007 & 2008 to promote technologies available for effective water usage as a property-wide management tool and to provide better production and sustainable outcomes for pastoralists.

Demonstration sites will show the benefits of upgrading to an improved property-wide water management system including modern water retrieval, storage and delivery systems that will result in time and dollar savings.

We will demonstrate changes from ‘old’ methodology to new by monitoring and recording:

  • Time saving for landholders
  • Cost savings
  • Lifestyle and business changes associated with time and cost savings
  • Reliability of new technology and ease of use/maintenance

At the field days, suppliers and pastoralists will be discussing and viewing:

  • Appropriate sorts of equipment and designs that would commonly be needed to deliver water cost effectively around a property
  • How to monitor the delivery of water  to stock  through remote telemetry
  • Evaporation, desalination and seepage control devices.
  • Water as a property management tool
