Victorian 4WD Show Results
The On Track research team has been busy collecting and analysing information to better understand and profile the existing and potential markets for 4WD tourism to desert and outback Australia. A survey conducted at the Victorian 4WD show in Wandin gathered baseline information on 4WD enthusiasts including demographics and information on their trip preferences such as frequency, preferred environments, planning processes and partiality for off-road travel. National 4X4 Sydney Show Results
A survey which aimed to test the ‘Toorak tractor’ theory was undertaken at the National 4X4 Show in Sydney in June 2006. This survey collected information on who owns 4WD vehicles and why, how often they go on holiday trips in 4WD vehicles, where to, and whether they go off the bitumen on such trips. Attitudes to 4WDing off-bitumen in outback areas in particular were questioned and people were asked what might encourage them to go off-road in the outback. [pdf 172.3 kb]

National 4X4 Brisbane Show Results
At the National 4X4 Show in Brisbane similar information was collected to assess whether different markets were in evidence. A question on the essence of 4WD travel helped to identify that a large proportion of enthusiasts in and around south-east Queensland are independent and activity-based. [pdf 172.2 kb]
