This Commercialisation and Utilisation Plan
(CUP) sets out the approach to achieving the creation,
identification and the extraction of value for the partners,
stakeholders and possible third party users of the research
outcomes of the Desert Knowledge Cooperative Research Centre
(DK-CRC), in order to achieve the maximum national benefits from
its investment. This CUP will enable the
management and the project participants in DK-CRC to ensure that
the research outcomes of DK-CRC are used for improving desert
livelihoods in this region in a transparent, strategic and
sustainable fashion.
The Board of the DK-CRC is determined that the
valuable research, development and education coordination role that
DK-CRC has begun to play for desert Australia on behalf of the
nation shall continue beyond the 7 years lifetime of
DK-CRC. To that end, not only must DK-CRC create
and capture as much value from its activities as possible, but it
must be seen to do so, in order to ensure support for that
continuing role. The CUP aims to underpin this
goal, and the Board continues to develop a vision for how this will
lead to a sustained existence beyond seven
years. This is thus a living document that the
Board will review each year; it will be updated as project details
evolve and as the long-term vision is implemented, through the
process of which it will become increasingly quantified and
targeted over time.
